Today was the first day of my internship. I think I have an almost unfair advantage over the non-WVU undergraduates, being that I took English 101 and 102 here and only 3 years ago (as a sophomore). Course policies have pretty much stayed the same thankfully. It's a really easy set-up to follow. Tomorrow I get to find out if I can teach grammar to the retarded freshmen and if I can change the readings on the example syllabus. The other GTAs seem really nice. There is only one person from PWE, and I believe she is older than I. Most of the new GTAs are and have ample teaching experience. Seems a trend for old education minors. Good thing I didn't take that route!

I finished my homework pretty quickly (yep, homework), so now I'm just chilling around the second home while the better half makes me dinner (BITCH! Just kidding!).

Last read: Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman (Book 2): Duty and Desire by Pamela Aidan
Current read: Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

Oh, and Jennifer destroyed my house while I was at the beach with my parents. She and her new boyfriend "broke in" Laura and my beds and neglected to clean up their condom crusted sheets. Excuse me, my bedsheets. Yeah. Need I mention that I'm not pleased? She was simply supposed to feed my parakeets every 3 to 4 days. She lived at my house. I've never seen so many dirty dishes scattered about the kitchen, or such a trash dump of a living area before. I think steam came out of my mother's ears. Literally.

So it's been an interesting week.

1. Have you ever been questioned by the cops?
Does speeding count? If so, then yes... and my answer to why I was speeding 81 in a 70 was because I was about to lose control of my bladder. Did he believe me? No. Was it the truth? Yes. Damn traffic cops.

2. Do you close your eyes on roller coasters?
Only pansies do that.

3. Whens the last time you've been sledding?
I think the better question is what the hell happened to the apostrophe in "whens." WHEN'S. Get it right or pay the price. But anyway, I last went sledding sophomore year. I went downhill on my bottom.

4. Would you rather sleep with someone else, or alone?
I like to sleep with someone, so long as that someone is the someone I'm supposed to be sleeping with. It's really nice to know that you're not alone, and then there is the benefit of shared body warmth. I like to save on electric in the winter. So sue me.

5. Do you believe in ghosts?
Do I believe in them? No. Am I afraid of them? Yes. I'm sure that doesn't make sense, but it doesn't really have to because it's my problem. Not yours.

6. Do you think O.J. killed his wife?
Of course he did.

7. Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie?
I'm one liberal chick, but Angelina just isn't what I would call good taste. Or sane. Or normal. I can't wait until she goes back to her true crazy self and leaves Brad with the kids.

8. Can you honestly say you know ANYTHING about politics?
I know I hate the way politics in this country are going.

9. Do you know how to play poker?
I'm quite the ringer actually. When I'm lucky, I kick butt. When I'm unlucky, I go out first. Just depends.

11. How do you feel about your last ex?
My last ex was a woman. I couldn't take it anymore. My ex before that was a rebound, but it was fun while it lasted. My ex before that didn't know what the heck he wanted out of life and proceeded to flipflop with "I love you"/ "I hate you" until my head spun. I think that relationship was probably the most trying, painful, and biggest mistake I ever made. Never take exs when they come crawling back to you, girls. Cut them off right then and there. Don't wait until it becomes hard.

12. Do you like to cuddle?
Sometimes. I'm a moody cuddler.

13. If you're driving in the middle of the night, and no one is in sight, would you speed?
I don't speed after the ticket. I like my money too much.

14. Do you have a secret that no one knows but you?
Everyone does. Well, maybe not. Probably not now that I think about it.

15. Boston Red Sox or New York Yankees?
Yankees all the way.

16. How often do you remember your dreams?
Almost always. It's a weird talent I have.

17. Can you name 5 songs by The Beatles?
"Hey, Jude", "Let it Be", "Do You Want to Know a Secret?", "I Want to Hold Your Hand", "Yellow Sub"

18. What's the one thing on your mind?
Success... the desire to impress and stand out in the world.

19. Do you believe in love at first sight?
Absolutely not. A commitment like that can only come from a great deal of time spend getting to know oneanother. Lust at first sight is different and totally possible, however.

20. What talent do you wish you had?
Play the fiddle

23. What do you wear to bed?
Sleep pants and a T

24. Have you ever been caught stealing?
I don't steal!

25. Rock or Rap?
ROCK. I can't stand rap. Rap is crap. Aren't I poetic?

26. If you could be seen with one famous person, who would it be?
Bono is pretty awesome. And I'm in love with Jake Gyllenhaal. Jerry Bailey is the man too. I really don't know. I'd rather meet someone from before my time.

27. Do you know anyone in jail?

28. Have you ever sang in front of the mirror?
Yeah, it's a painful sight.

29. What food do you find disgusting?

30. Did you ever play, "I'll show you mine, if you show me yours?"

31. Who is your biggest fan?
My family and boyfriend. And I'm theirs.

32. Have you ever stood up for someone you hardly knew?
Sometimes, depending on the cause.

34. If you could live anywhere where would you live?
On a farm in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, NC, or on the Delta in the south. I do, however, love Charleston, SC. It's my favorite city.

35. If you could be any animal what would you be?
A horse. Duh.

36. Your best quality?
That I'm smart and I know how to get what I want = ambitious.

37. Best feature?
Freckles, eyes, hair color

38. When was the last time you smoked pot?
I have never smoked ANYTHING.

39. Have you ever spent the night with a person of the opposite sex?
Durrrrr, yeah? I live in sin.

40. Do you miss high school?
Not at all.
11:42 pm - Update just for Cathy
This is for Cathy, because I love her so.

Better log a few things first...

Garret was a woman. I could't deal with the clinginess and ragging emotions, so I dumped him and adopted a bad buy that's become even more tame than I. Who'd have thought?

I graduated summa cum lade like I hoped back August. This wasn't the hardest year to maintain the GPA. Now that I'm in my niche I'm virtually unstoppable. Yeah, right. Now I have graduate school to attend to, and I know I still won't be able to stand the sight of Bs, so I'll just have to do my best to avoid them. Besides, I have to, or else I won't get into a great Ph.D. program.

I've decided that I want to edit for Highlights magazine. It's not in NYC, has a great fan base, has incredible job security... and I just like it, okay? I really would love to edit books and magazines. It's been my subconscious dream since I first came to Morgantown and picked English. Sure, the money may not come as easily as it would with law school, but I'll be a hell of a lot happier! Cheers to happiness!

I go back to Morgantown July 30th so that I can be primed and ready for my internship the first of August. I get to learn how to teach rugrat Freshmen. Boy do I have plans for them!

Read of the moment: Catcher in the Rye
Reads of this week: By Blood Possessed (awesome mystery), Bones to Pick (another great mystery), and Clocks (What can I say? At least this one is an Agatha Christie!).
Next book: Twelve Sharp (Janet Evanovich is the BEST contemporary author today)
Other beach books: Peril at End House (another Christie), In Her Shoes, The Devil Wears Prada, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Derik's Bane, Hang My Head and Cry, Mr. Darcy Book 2... I know I'm forgetting some because I brought a great deal more than that. I'm on my fourth book this week! I can't be done yet!
Book I want more than anything: Ulysses by James Joyce (I want to see this "best book of the 20th century" for myself. Seriously, it has to be great if it beat Gatsby!)

I think that's it for now...

Love you, Cathy!

Okay, short update about Jenny.

I have the following classes next semester (whippie):
English 302- Editing
English 304- Professional Writing
English 111- Intro. Creative Writing (going back a step is so much fun and EASY)
Comm. 306- Org. and Inst.
History 2something- Colonial Society

It's uber exciting. All I need to do is maintain the 4.0 to graduate summa cum lade! Highest honors, baby! Then it's off to law school?

Speaking of law school, I need to take my exam in October. That'll be grrrrreat.

So I'm working at the Carnegie Institute of Washington Geophysical Laboratory. I'm in the Abelson Building, also known as the library. I'm in charge of the official Centennial website, the DTM Views archive, and the timeline for the program brochure at the celebration next year. 10 weeks for three projects?! Just call me Ms. Multitasker.

I'm finishing the website unofficially today. I still have one person to add (Leason H. Adams, former director and mineral physics scientist), but he's not in my lecture so I can cool my heels on him until Friday if I want. I have to give a presentation at the intern symposium on Tuesday and am EXTREMELY nervous. The scientists here are the tops in their fields... IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. I'm dealing with actual rocket scientists here. ROCKET SCIENTISTS. And my boyfriend's father is the head of them all! AHHHH!

Living in D.C. is the ultimate experience. It's my new favorite "un"city. I already know it like the back of my hand.

Oh yeah, so speaking of boyfriend, I'm shacking up with the director's son. Okay, okay... "dating." What can I say? I enjoy the power. Hehe, kidding...ish. I get to meet "Dad" officially as the girlfriend today rather than as the "talkative intern (what he knows me as to this point)." Going to be inter-es-ting.

It'll be even more inter-es-ting this year trying to maintain a long distance relationship. I can do it. I'm dedicated! Only time will tell, right? I just like to think that when you're as crazy about a guy as I am about Garret, things just have to work. It's only 3 hours!

Well, that's about it for now. Signing off from American University, my home of the summer.

I had the best weekend. On Friday night Eric came back from roving and told me he was going to Pittsburgh on Saturday with Boreman. At first, I was a little peeved since it had been a while since both of us had been in Morgantown at the same time and was looking forward to the "kick me out at 2:00 a.m. time." Especially since RAs don't get nights off in December because of finals and such. Then he told me the news- I was invited to go with him for free!

So we got on the bus at 10 a.m. and were given a really good bag lunch. No kidding, a good bag lunch. It had all sorts of fruit, bagels, and muffins in it. Then came the road games, Paul's idea, and a fabulous one at that. So we eventually got to Pittsburgh at around 11:30. Eric, Paul, and I roamed for a little bit before stumbling across this beautiful, magical place called Dave and Busters. We walked inside, only to be told you had to be 21 to go in, or have a person at least 25 in your party. We were really bummed at first, but then the lady seemed to take a liking to us and sneaked us in the side. Bwhahahaha. Then the fun began!

I can see why it was 21 and over… there was an open bar, but that’s not what made the place so cool. They had every video game imaginable. I rode a horse racing simulator, shot zombies and bad guys, raced a pod from Star Wars, shot spaceships, karate fought, and so much more. We only had 1 ½ hours to play, so I didn’t get to do everything I wanted, but the experience was well worth it.

Since Doc and Shawna didn’t go on the trip (Boreman RFLs), the Parisers took us out to eat at PF Chang’s. I’d never had gourmet Chinese food before, and let me tell you- you’ll never go back to the takeout/ buffet stuff again! Mmmm. I had chicken and cashews and chicken lettuce wraps.

With an only an hour to kill, Paul, Eric, and I just headed out to a quiet bar to watch basketball and chat about the crew and women. Just like old times. I never really realized how much I missed hanging out as a threesome until last weekend.

On to the Nutcracker! We went to the theatre and got a backstage tour which showed us all the inner workings and history of the building. Quite interesting. The play began at 8, ended at 10. I’d never seen the Nutcracker before (yes, shoot me), but recognized all the music. The pit orchestra was fantastic! And the dancers… so pretty! When I have kids I’ll take them every year!

We all got home a little before 11:30 p.m. I met Eric and Dave at the Mountainlair for nachos after I unpacked all my free soda that was leftover and we went back to Boreman to watch a prison study in England modeled after the Stanford Prison Study. Extremely different results. I hadn’t seen something that funny in a long time.

This week has been creeping by. I had a final yesterday. I have a final tonight and a portfolio due on Friday. My other portfolio and final are on Monday (History and Tech Writing). I want another 4.0, darn it, but I guess all I really have to do is stay above a 3.8 to get into law school. Admissions are crazy! You have to have at least a 3.6 to get in anywhere worth the money. I just don’t want to blow my GPA. I was hoping to graduate with at least a 3.9 so I could be summa cum lade.

So, anyway, my schedule for next semester is as follows:

9:30 POLS 102, Intro to American Government
10:30 ENGL 201 Advanced Composition
12:30 ENGL 263 Shakespeare I

1:00 COMM 105 Mass Media
2:30 COMM 308 Nonverbal
5:30 COMM 491 TAing for Comm 305

9:30 POLS 102, Intro to American Government
10:30 ENGL 201 Advanced Composition
12:30 ENGL 263 Shakespeare I

1:00 COMM 105 Mass Media
2:30 COMM 308 Nonverbal
PE 146 Self Defense

9:30 POLS 102, Intro to American Government
10:30 ENGL 201 Advanced Composition
12:30 ENGL 263 Shakespeare I

Not too bad. I’m not very concerned. I’m taking the break from writing classes. All I’ll have writing for on a weekly basis is Adv. Comp. Shakespeare will have some, but nothing terrible.

This will almost complete my Comm minor and begin my PolySci one. Plus I get three classes with Eric. Bwhahahaha.

He did the best boyfriend thing the other day. I was bummed and had the "I Need a Hero" lyrics on my away message. He replied with Enrique Iglesis's "Hero" lyrics. It brighened up my 221 TAing office hours. Boyfriends are nice sometimes, when they aren't buttheads. Hahaha.

Can't wait to start a hopefully non-stressful personal life semester. There was far too much drama this Fall.

Wonderful weekend at home! The older I get, the more I miss my family and the more I want one just like my own someday!

Miss Molly Moo, my puppy, hardly looks puppyish anymore. While this depresses me, I realize that she's capable of a whole lot more than she used to be. This dog is one athlete. Guess that relates back to the shepard and retriever in her.

Finals are coming up. Will this be a President's List 3peat? I know I'll at least get Dean's, but lord would I rather the 4. Oy, how I hate the stress of finals.

It's good to have Charlie back. Now Eric and I don't have to rely on the generosity of others to go see The Incredibles or scarf down at Great Chinese. Plans without transportation do not go hand in hand.

Went shopping this weekend. Bought bras and underwear. Mom's disturbed that I can't think of a good list for Christmas. I simply don't really need anything. I'm perfectly happy with everything I already have, thank you very much!

Not much to say...

An addition to my last livejournal entry...

I was not targeting any one person with my entry. I have seen MULTIPLE messages about Kerry supporters. I don't think I'd be sick and tired of seeing them if it was just one that I'd noticed.

Point two- Kerry supporters are NOT anti-Americans. We love this country, that's why we voted. We wouldn't have voted if we didn't love America and cared what direction its leadership took. We just disagree with Bush supporters about certain elements of leadership. My person opinion is that Bush's fundamentals don't match those that have made America the wonderful country it is. I love the USA, but hate Bush.

Kerry supporters may be whining, but so are Bush supporters now that we're questioning their leader (and have been for 4 years already). It's like the pot calling the kettle black. If both sides would just shut the hell up, we could all live in peace with our own personal opinions.

And as for being sore losers- the same thing applies. Don't be sore-winners. That's what causes tension.

So everyone just shut up about the election. It's over. I don't want to hear anymore celebrating or whining. Let's just get on with these upcoming four years. It won't be long until we're all battling it out again over the next two presidental candidates.

Sheesh... people. If I can get over this ordeal (knowing how I feel about Kerry and liberals in general), everyone else certainly can.

7:22 pm

So I'm trying to figure out what I want for Christmas... so far all I have is:

1. The Notebook DVD

2. Joan of Arcadia, Season 1 DVD

Hmmmm. What to ask for.... I just don't really need anything. I'm sure that will go over GREAT with Mom. Next time I go home I'm expecting to get grilled for ideas. Oy.

Not so jazzed about the outcome of the election. Especially how people are acting. It was to be expected that Kerry supporters would be upset. I myself am very distressed. If Bush's next four years turn out to be anything close to what these past four were, I'm in for a lot of worries. I don't predict a change... but as I see it, we'll be rid of the Bush family for good in just a couple years because there's no way Republicans would ever let the twins try to run for office. Haha. Sometimes conservative beliefs actually serve a beneficial purpose! Okay, enough of that! But, my main complaint is how Bush supporters are acting. Stop rubbing it in the faces of those who voted for Kerry. You got your president of choice. We have every right to be fearful and voice it. Republicans have nothing to complain about, so shut up. Seriously, if I see one more message telling Kerry supporters to pack their bags to Canada, I'll know for sure what terribly pathetic winners Republicans are.

On a brighter note, McGraw went DOWN. Bwhahahaha. Hello, Judge Benjamin! Mom's really excited. The Benjamins are such great people. It's just sad he has to leave my mom's firm now... but I guess that does have its perks for RAM.

Eric and I are trying to devise a way to go see The Incredibles. Since my car's at home until I go back to pick it up, we have no transportation. Best yet, the new Star Wars preview is at the beginning of the flick! Very exciting!

So I'm looking at law schools... I'll have a tough choice ahead of me. My decision will basically rely on my test scores. I'm vollying a few in my head now... OSU, UCONN, UVA, U Mich., Pitt, Maryland, Washington and Lee... eh, I don't know!

6:02 pm - Update in general

Wow, so a lot has happened since I last posted!

So there are mice living in our ceiling... very creepy. I'm really having a hard time coping with that knowlege.

My adviser is an ass and gave me the wrong pin number so I didn't get into some of the classes I wanted to take. Ah, well, it's not as if I'm missing out on anything. I just had to rearrange my plan a bit. So here we are: Advanced Composition, Shakespeare I, Self Defense, TAing for Comm. 305, Nonverbal Communication, Mass Media, and Creative Writing NonFiction. I may get to drop the CWNF for CW Fiction Workshop. That would be great. Eric and I have all the Comms together right now, but I may drop Nonverbal for Business Writing. I need to get that concentration done!

Yeah, so I might go to Law School (but not here). My grades are ridiculous and I'm not feeling the whole poor English major thing. Plus it's in my blood. I already have a jump on everyone else, I suppose. If I do Corporate law, my English major is absolutely ideal to apply with. Especially with a concentration in PWE and a Comm. minor. Bwhaha.

I'm contemplating applying to be an RA. This could prove problematic, however, because if I don't get it, housing would be a very touchy situation. And you don't find out if you got the job until late in the year... bahhhhhhh. It's just something I've always wanted to do and next year is my last time to try. My parents told me not to as a Sophomore and I thought they didn't want me to this year either. I would never have done something they didn't want... but I just found out that they had actually wanted me to apply for this year. Parents can be so confusing. So the moral is I might apply for next year. I'd have so much fun helping the residents... and beating them when they're bad. It's just a matter of getting in... ahhhhhhhhh.

I was a flapper for Halloween. Eric was the old man from the SNL commercial "Oops, I crapped my pants!" It was a laugh, to be sure.

Now for some pics from the Boreman Ball, parties, and whatever!
